OUR MAKERS

Welcome to the sustainable furniture & homewares movement.

By now we've all heard of slow fashion, which prioritises respect for people, animals and the environment. This concept also applies to furniture & homewares.

We are committed to sourcing our products ethically and sustainably; minimising our impact on the environment and empowering communities of skilled artisans. We do this by taking the time to source only the best products for your home, whilst also ensuring our suppliers' working conditions and environments are safe and acceptable, and that people are paid a fair, liveable wage.
The talented artisans who hand-make many of Sun Republic's cushions, rugs, Juju hats, wall hangings, furniture and bags work in home environments, which are not subject to daily quotas, and are often made individually and in relation to demand. We purchase from people in Morocco, India, Indonesia and Australia, empowering these communities to be fairly compensated for their craftsmanship.
Our 'handmade' pieces are lovingly hand-crafted from all natural materials such as 100% Cotton, Linen, Jute, Woven Atta, American Oak, Teak and Rattan. This means that each piece may have slight variations in size, design and/or colour, adding to the unique story of the piece. They can take up to two weeks to complete, from harvesting the atta reeds & feathers, spinning and dying cottons and linen, and sewing & stitching the pieces with thought and care for you and your loved ones to enjoy.
You can take pride in your home, knowing that each piece is unique, high-quality, tells a story, and supports artisans and communities.
All Sun Republic items can be PRE-ORDERED, as limited stock is held in store, due to each piece being an original, hand-crafted item.

We order from our suppliers every month, with estimated manufacture and delivery times occurring every 4 - 6 weeks. Please keep this in mind and be patient with your order, as our artisans create your new piece with love and care.
