Initial Care: Preparing Your New Furniture

Our furniture is handcrafted with care and undergoes a journey from creation to delivery. A quick cleaning upon arrival ensures your piece is refreshed and ready for use.

  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove transit dust.

Everyday Cleaning & Maintenance

General Care:

  • Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For spills, use a damp microfiber cloth with mild soap; dry immediately.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or bleach.

Protective Measures:

  • Use coasters, placemats, and trivets to prevent stains and heat damage.
  • Minimize exposure to direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to preserve finishes and materials.

Caring for Specific Materials

American Oak:
Finished with Osmo PolyX Raw for a natural look and stain resistance. Wipe spills promptly to prevent staining.

Teak (Indoor & Outdoor):

  • Indoor teak features a sanded or polyurethane finish.
  • Outdoor teak is raw and naturally weather-resistant. Use specialized teak care products like Golden Care Teak for maintenance.

White Cedar/Mindi Wood:
Durable with stained or matte finishes. Clean with a soft cloth and mild soapy water.

Iron (Positano Collection):

  • Powder-coated for durability. Wipe with a soft cloth and mild soap.
  • Cushions are high-density foam with removable, machine-washable covers. Protect cushions by covering them when not in use.

Stone (Amalfi Collection):

  • Clean with a soft cloth, mild soap, and water.
  • Always use trivets for hot items to prevent heat or water damage. Avoid harsh cleaning products.

Outdoor Cushions (Sunbrella Fabric):

  • Brush off dirt regularly.
  • Clean with mild soap and water using a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.

Caring for Jute Rugs

The best way to keep your jute rug clean is to vacuum regularly so that dirt and dust doesn't build up and rub into the fibres. 

Rugs are subject to wear and tear over time and can become faded if exposed to direct sunlight. Rotate regularly to minimize colour change and damage.

Cleaning & Wear:

  • Vacuum regularly in the direction of the weave to prevent dirt buildup.
  • Rotate rugs periodically to minimize fading from sunlight.
  • Use an underlay to prevent slipping and protect floors.

Spills & Pet Accidents/Odours:

Treat spots and spills immediately with warm water and pat dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. 

Clean up pet accidents immediately. Remove solids with paper towel and blot up urine quickly. Mix white vinegar and water in equal parts, using a clean cloth gently dab area clean. If necessary, sprinkle baking soda onto the rug, allow to sit overnight to absorb any lingering odour.

  • Treat spills immediately with warm water, blotting gently with a clean cloth.
  • Sprinkle baking soda on lingering odours; leave overnight before vacuuming.
  • Blot solids or liquid immediately. Use a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water to gently clean the area, then sprinkle baking soda to absorb moisture and odours.

Shedding & Odour:

Strands of jute can sometimes pop out of our hand crafted rugs. Loose fibres should be twisted and pushed through to the base of the rug. Never pull out threads, this can cause damage and holes.

Shedding is to be expected initially, and you may discover a fine layer of dust under your rugs.

As our rugs are shipped in sealed bags, odours from dyes and fibres can accumulate during transit. This odour will naturally dissipate over time when the rug is removed from its bag.

  • Loose fibers can appear—twist them back into the weave rather than pulling them out.
  • Slight shedding and dust are normal initially.
  • Any transit odors will dissipate once the rug is unwrapped and aired out.
