Product Care & Maintenance Guide

Materials, Care, Cleaning & Maintenance

At Sun Republic, we pride ourselves on crafting high-quality furniture using sustainably sourced new and recycled materials. With proper care and maintenance, you can enjoy the beauty and functionality of your pieces for years to come.

Initial Cleaning & Care

Why Clean Before Use?

Our furniture is meticulously handcrafted and undergoes a journey from production to delivery. A quick cleaning upon arrival ensures hygiene, removes transit dust, and refreshes the piece for use.

Recommended Steps:

Wipe gently with a soft microfiber cloth to remove dust or residue.

For teak furniture, you can sparingly use a few drops of clove oil diluted in water to add freshness. Clove oil's natural cleansing properties help remove any mold spores that may have developed during transit.

Regular Care & Cleaning

General Cleaning:

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.

For spills, use a damp microfiber cloth with mild soap, then dry immediately.

Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners.

Protective Measures:

Use coasters, placemats, and trivets to prevent stains and heat marks.

Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or extreme temperatures.

Materials & Their Care

American Oak:

American Oak furniture is finished with Osmo Poly X Raw (a pigmented hard wax oil) which provides a natural colour and stain resistance. Clean spills promptly to prevent staining.

Teak (Indoor & Outdoor):

Indoor teak features a sanded or polyurethane finish; outdoor teak is raw and weather-resistant.

Use teak care products like our Golden Care Teak for maintenance.

White Cedar/Mindi Wood:

Stained or clear matte finishes provide durability. Clean with a soft cloth, mild soap and water.

Iron (Positano Collection):

Our iron pieces are powder-coated and feature high-density foam cushions with removable, machine-washable covers. To protect the fabric over time, we recommend covering cushions when not in use.

Powder-coated surfaces are durable; clean with a soft cloth and mild soap.

Stone (Amalfi):

Clean daily with a soft cloth, mild soap and water. Use trivets to prevent heat or water damage and avoid harsh cleaners.

Outdoor Cushion Care (Sunbrella Fabric)

Sunbrella cushions resist mildew but benefit from regular cleaning:

Brush off loose dirt.

Wash with mild soap and water; use a soft brush.

Rinse thoroughly and air dry.
